TARGET HARDWARE

STM32H757XIH6-based Riverdi 10.1" STM32 Embedded Display

SCOPE

Embedded GUI Development | UX/UI Design

Ambulance HMI is a vehicle dashboard our team designed and developed in-house for emergency vehicles. Built entirely in C with LVGL, it delivers a responsive interface on performance-critical bare-metal hardware with just 2 MB of Flash and 1 MB of RAM.

Engineering challenge

  • Working within strict hardware limitations of just 2 MB Flash and 1 MB RAM
  • Preventing memory corruption and memory exhaustion in C
  • Carefully managing assets, fonts, widgets, and memory allocations
  • Controlling animation lifecycles to avoid memory leaks and UI instability

System Key Features

The entire interface is built in pure C, with LVGL as the graphics library. No C++, no heavy framework, and no additional runtime-just lightweight, efficient code running close to the hardware.

Running directly on the STM32H757XIH6 with no operating system or scheduler, the application uses a streamlined LVGL loop for predictable, low-overhead performance. Despite tight hardware limits of just 2 MB Flash and 1 MB RAM, it delivers a smooth 30 FPS interface through carefully optimized assets, fonts, and widgets - showing that a polished modern UI can run efficiently on resource-constrained hardware.

Designed for a 10.1" Riverdi STM32 Embedded Display powered by the STM32H757XIH6. The high-resolution TFT platform is built for demanding indoor and outdoor applications, making it a strong fit for real-world embedded systems.

Supported boards

  • Tested and verified on the STM32 Embedded Display, running on STM32H757XIH6.
  • Portable to any LVGL-supported target.
  • Whole STM32H7 family

Partnership With LVGL

Our close partnership with LVGL is based on shared expertise, mutual trust, and a common ambition to push the boundaries of embedded user interfaces. This demo grew out of that strong relationship, combining LVGL's lightweight graphics technology with Somco Software's experience in embedded engineering and UX/UI design.

Custom Figma design

The complete Figma design for this project was created in-house by the Somco Software team. From the overall visual direction to individual interface components, every element was designed by us with usability, consistency, and the target platform in mind.

We also offer UI/UX design as a service - Somco can create a complete, implementation-ready Figma design tailored to your product and hardware.
