From custom PACS connection and C++ parsing of large DICOM datasets to a responsive, touchscreen-ready user interface. Everything shown here, including the complete Figma design, was produced in-house.
The hard part wasn't any single feature - it was keeping the UI responsive while the backend parses large DICOM studies with several viewer panels stay live at once. We built our own parser and gave each panel its own series context, so comparing studies side by side stays smooth and the measurement overlays never lag. The application is powered by sdicomlib, a dedicated C++ library responsible for DICOM parsing and data management. It handles patient, study, and series structures, along with other core DICOM operations, and manages independent series contexts for each viewer panel while exposing a QML-friendly API for seamless integration with the interface.
The application supports both English and German, allowing doctors and clinical staff to switch languages at runtime without restarting the system. The language can be changed directly from the interface, making the application easier to use across different clinics, teams, and working environments.
The application is designed for full touchscreen use, allowing doctors to navigate cases, inspect DICOM images, switch layouts, and use viewing tools without a mouse or keyboard. This makes interaction faster and more convenient in clinical environments, especially during procedures or when reviewing patient cases at the point of care.
The application includes a set of practical tools designed to make everyday clinical work faster and more convenient. Doctors can quickly filter and find relevant cases, adjust and navigate DICOM images, perform distance and angle measurements, capture screenshots, and record case reviews directly within the application. Together, these features reduce unnecessary steps and help doctors stay focused on patient assessment and image analysis.
MediView Pro runs from a single Qt6 codebase across desktop and embedded targets. One codebase means one team and one test suite instead of building the same app three times - and in the R&D phase it keeps your final platform an open business decision. Choosing Qt/C++ up front is what makes that possible.
